Perry Laughs off Debate Flub: Asks Supporters Which Federal Agency They Want to Forget

Thursday 9th of February 2012 06:01:00 AM

We’ve all had human moments. President Obama is still trying to find all 57 states. Ronald Reagan got lost somewhere on the Pacific Highway in an answer to a debate question. Gerald Ford ate a tamale without removing the husk. And tonight Rick Perry forgot the third agency he wants to eliminate. Just goes to show there are too damn many federal agencies. The governor said it best afterwards: “I’m glad I had my boots on, because I sure stepped in it tonight.” While the media froths over this all too human moment, we thought we would take this opportunity...

They are often hailed as an essential component of modern life. But smartphones are taking over some people's lives, according to a study that has identified repetitive and obsessive use of the devices. Scientists have uncovered what they call 'checking habits', when users frequently look at the menu screen, news, email, contacts, and social applications on the device. A typical checking lasts less than 30 seconds and involves opening the screen lock and accessing a single application. The researchers, from Helsinki Institute for Information Technology, were surprised to find users engaging in checking behaviours throughout the waking hours.

Cheers. For some reason the libs weren’t so outraged when Obaama served $399 bottles of wine at his taxpayer-funded state dinner … … but Libs today were “stunned” and “outraged” that popular conservative Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) ordered a $350 bottle of wine for dinner in New York. TPM reported, via Ann Althouse: When [Professor Feinberg] saw the label on the bottle of Jayer-Gilles 2004 Echezeaux Grand Cru Ryan’s table had ordered, she quickly looked it up on the wine list and saw that it sold for an eye-popping $350, the most expensive wine in the house along with one...

NN's Joe Johns hyped a recent Michael Moore speech on Monday's Newsroom as "incredible" and "riveting." Johns highlighted a clip from the left-wing film director, who spoke at a pro-union rally in Madison, Wisconsin, where he claimed that "America is not broke...The country is awash in wealth and cash. It's just that it's not in your hands! It has been transferred, in the greatest heist in history, from the workers...to the banks and the portfolios of the uber-rich." Anchor Brooke Baldwin brought on the correspondent for the regular "Political Pop" segment 40 minutes into the 4 pm Eastern hour, and...

His practice time was extremely limited last week, but as late as Sunday afternoon, Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier said he expected Favre to try throwing before the game.

The Decline and Fall of the American Empire (Party is Over in 2015 Barf Alert)

Thursday 9th of February 2012 06:01:00 AM
Posted by admin / Under Over The Edge (radio)

A soft landing for America 40 years from now? Don’t bet on it. The demise of the United States as the global superpower could come far more quickly than anyone imagines. If Washington is dreaming of 2040 or 2050 as the end of the American Century, a more realistic assessment of domestic and global trends suggests that in 2025, just 15 years from now, it could all be over except for the shouting. Despite the aura of omnipotence most empires project, a look at their history should remind us that they are fragile organisms. So delicate is their ecology of...
